An absolute hit thanks to the great portrayal of Judy Holliday, who died much too young, a natural talent and one of the very best comedians to have walked around in Hollywood. Unfortunately for us film buffs, this extraordinary actress had a preference for the stage, making her seldom seen in films.

It's nice to know that, when the super-intelligent Judy Holliday (IQ 172!!) had to appear before the Senate Committee on Un-American Activities, she slipped back into the role of Billie Dawn, leaving the stunned committee members speechless. .

Well known is her statement that you have to be very smart to convincingly play a dumb blonde.

By the way, notice the surprising, spectacular lowering of her squeaky voice as she orders the door open toward the end of the film: "Do what I told you." Wonderful.

Nice film about a very wealthy businessman who enlists the help of a journalist to teach his fiancée some manners. The characters are a bit bold, but this is made up for by the well-matched cast (with Judy Holliday stealing the show). The course is somewhat predictable and the romance that develops could have been better substantiated.

Judy Holliday is funny but the switch from spoiled child (in the beginning) to innocently stupid and finally witty sweet smart woman is quite a bit too much of a good thing.

Crawford's character is unfortunately way too thick and the screaming is funny in the beginning but after a while it becomes more and more annoying to watch.

It seemed as if the makers wanted to portray his character in the most negative way possible, but it is so extreme that you quickly wonder why they are together.

Holden's character is otherwise rather colorless and the fairy tale that she falls for him is not really believable.

Speaking of cleverness , even I know that the US is not a democracy but a republic .
