What an incredible wacky wacky wacky wacky movie this is. Never seen such an over the top movie like this before. Very busy, but once you get used to it, you will like it too. Only that mother-in-law you really want to get rid of than be rich brrrr. There are really nice moments like those planes, but also the couple who can't get out anymore. Well, when people smell money, they sometimes do very crazy things. In any case, I found it very entertaining, although the end with that fire stairs was really too much. The ending to it was fun though. Just checked to see what is still alive, but none of the main players are alive anymore. The boy could certainly still be alive, but I have not been able to find anything else. As far as the image is concerned, I can only say that Criterion has delivered a top performance. Such an old film, so beautifully restored. Top!!!
Movie 4.0
Image 5.0 (blu ray)
Sound 4.0

Let's stop arguing please!
Insane hotshots movie that takes few breaks. This seems unique to me, especially for the 1960s, as more happens than many action films from the twenty-first century. And then for 2.5 hours. And then apparently there is also a longer version. For those who didn't have enough entertainment yet.
A man drives off the cliff and some road users go to take a look. The man says with his last words that there is a good amount of money buried in San Monica. The rat race can begin. The film is very similar to Rat Race (2001) which was probably inspired by this crazy tutti frutti.
While this ADHD trip starts with four cars and about 9 people, this number gradually increases as the film progresses. There is therefore a large cast involved in it's a mad, mad, mad, mad world. One of the supporting roles is played by Buster Keaton.

The comedy version of The Expendables with a lot of comedic talent in a movie that would become the blueprint for similar movies like Rat Race or The Cannonball Run. The concept is quite fun with a few people starting a race to be the first to get a lot of money. All means are allowed, sabotages everywhere, bizarre characters and situations along the way, ... The race is the framework for stringing together a series of comical moments.
Unfortunately, the humor is not always so spicy. It could be done with more charm, or absurd as in Airplane, ... The style of humor is that of Hollywood comedians, mainly from the 1940s and 1950s, which are now dated. Here and there it is still amusing, but you can see that the film has not really survived the times. The idea would still work to do something with it with a new generation.
