Jay Brooks is a black man with a passion for indie rock, comics and dating white girls. After a series of nasty breakups, Jay sends himself on the mission: "Operation Brown Sugar". He meets Catherine, the misunderstood and somewhat neurotic "Half-rican Canadian" bestselling author who is as fickle as himself. Jay struggles when he realizes that his fear of commitment is a bigger problem for him than the question of black or white.
