Fortunately, this film is a bit better than the third part, but it all has less and less to do with the original species. The limited budget and the mediocre cast are the same as part 3, although the actors are slightly better here, but what makes the difference is the setting, which is quite nice. Other than that, I think things have turned out nicely now with the species.

The routine is starting to set in a bit. I think they stopped this series at a good time. In part 3 it became less and that is no different here. This time a director I am familiar with. He is also the only director who, after taking on a sequel, managed to get directing work for a long time. Still, I think this Awakening is the least of the four. There is one cool scene (in the taxi), but otherwise some bland pulp. It's now 2007, but it all still feels like the late 90's. Also says something about the style of filmmaking within this genre until about 2008/2009, after which it all gradually got better.

Revisited today, a successful end to the Species series.

I thought it was not too bad, enough tension, some gory action and a good follow-up story, nice fight between 2 female monsters at the end too.

All in all 3 stars for this movie

Now that I have watched all 4 parts, these are my top 4:

1. Species 1

2. Species 3

3. Species 2

4. Species 4
