Too old for top sport-looking cast and uninteresting plot. I'm quite surprised by the -especially on IMDB- high score. I think comedy and ice hockey is universal in terms of time, so the datedness of the film can't be the reason for this.....

Slightly disappointing sports comedy that is largely still up for grabs due to Newman's genteel presence in a foul-mouthed role. It wasn't all that; the Hanson Brothers were just not bold enough to remain memorable and the fights on the rink were just not gory enough to impress. With the recent Goon in mind, it's even a bit well-behaved. But the camaraderie between the team members still made it enjoyable to watch, the mutual conversations on the road and in the locker room - like most sports films - contain the best moments. 2.5*

My 3000th vote by the way.

American sports comedy with the recurring features of predictability and caricature in the characters.

Previously little-known actors populate the thing, except for Paul Newman of course, this time in a comedic role and it must be said: he succeeds quite well.

Ice hockey connoisseurs will probably find it useful (there are plenty of match images), but for the neutral film fan, two hours of this material is more than enough, especially since the usually crude dialogues have to guarantee the humor and that goes quickly bore.
