Another strange part...

After the rock-solid start, the makers apparently don't know what to do with the popularity of Planet of the Apes. Charlton Heston wisely gets out quickly and the movies are just weird. In Escape, it is decided that it would be fun if three monkeys roamed the modern world of 1971. I don't really know what to do with it. One moment it's all about tension and mystery, the next it's about humor, and then being knocked over with an ethical-ecological message. The film really only has one strong moment and that is when Zira is interrogated under hypnosis. The rest is mainly too light-hearted, but this creates a nasty situation. The escape and action that follows is especially dated. This may be fun for the enthusiasts, but for now the most recent Apes series is by far the best.

What a relief compared to the second part, which became more and more ridiculous towards the end. The film starts very lightly and with the introduction of the monkeys on Earth and its inhabitants. This was the part of the movie that I liked the most.

Towards the end it becomes a bit too much of a run and hide principle, which is sometimes very clumsy, let alone the last shot. It wouldn't look out of place as an Instagram filter.

But luckily it never gets as ridiculous as the previous part, which got really drunk.

Review !

Another excellent sequel, but I must confess that I am also a fan of the entire franchise.

Always good find, now still

The first part of this film is very lightly conceived with the introduction that it is a complete revolution for both humans and monkeys. But along the way, this light-hearted story takes on a dark side when a scientist from the authorities determines that the monkeys are a threat to humanity. Great to discuss it when you hear the thoughts of different characters. Even the church feels threatened. One takes it playfully (think of the president), the other goes to great lengths to stop them. Who are we to change the future says the president at one point. Yet at some point they are held and asked out. From that moment on, the monkeys see no way out and have to escape with dire consequences. Again, the film manages to choose a beautiful ending that ensures that the entire franchise follows well. 8/10
