A day later still no idea what exactly this was about (although you can say or think enough about it) but that doesn't matter. For the most part I thought this was a very nice movie. And just a little different from other movies. Often very quiet without any noise (even hardly any ambient noise) and in its sobriety very beautifully and atmospherically shot. Ji-a Park is amazing, especially when she sings and sparkles all over. And the humor is of an absurdity that hits just right for me (and sometimes it doesn't, but go ahead), especially at the end is a great cut, from two people having sex to a little girl making a snowman . That's just humor. The film is short and that fits perfectly, it is not a minute too long or too short. And meanwhile, a relationship is sketched very cleverly without many words. 4.0*.

To take revenge on her adulterous husband and humiliate him, a housewife begins an unlikely relationship with a death row inmate, who is unable to speak after several suicide attempts.

Compared to other productions of Ki-duk Kim, a tender film. It's wonderful how telling moments of silence —if looks could kill!— and the cheerful, colorful encounters in prison contrast sharply. Not Kim's best in my opinion, but a moving, atmospheric film.

Another great film from the late Kim Ki-duk. Disarming especially about a housewife who visits a death row inmate to escape from her domineering adulterous husband. The woman exposes herself (figuratively) and makes her vulnerable by "performing" in a cheerful way. Great scenes were when Yeon sings songs about the seasons with her attributes, completely breaking the ice between her and Jin.

The film is beautiful in its simplicity. No melodramatic or sentimental undertones. Kim ki-duk touches the right chords with his minimalistic approach, focusing on loneliness and recognition. It is unclear what the woman's motive was, but the film can be called symbolic in the sense that both in a hopeless estrangement - he in death row, she in her bloodless marriage - only just blossomed again through their contacts.
