Predstavleniye plot
Revue is based on an archive of propaganda produced during the time of the Soviet Union in the 50s and 60s. The film shows an almost forgotten face of this Soviet era and the way of thinking back then. Although they live in incredibly bad living conditions and absurd rituals, they draw strength from the illusion that communism brings.

At the beginning of this compilation documentary, realism seems to be alternated with acted versions of it. But then you realize that you are watching carefully arranged clips that were all made at the time to promote the Soviet state, so even the "realism" has been acted out. Further on, we regularly see hymns to the Soviet state that sound memorized. The nationalism, the religious references and the over-the-top myths surrounding Lenin are particularly striking there. This is mainly the Khrushchev era so no more references to Stalin. Very fascinating movie.
