Pretty intense.

Although I had seen this movie a few years ago, I didn't remember much about it. That's why it's time for a review.

The atmosphere of the film is immediately its great strength. The acting is solid, but not always convincing. Occasionally I had trouble with Eddie, who has to 'carry' the film anyway. I had a hard time forming a picture of him, and while that was part of his character, it bothered me at times. Yet there is something intriguing about him, precisely that 'elusive' thing about him. Strange, such a mixed feeling. Unfortunately his new partner didn't captivate me, Melissa George is interchangeable and not very memorable.

Selma Blair, on the other hand, is doing very well. From the moment she comes into the picture it actually goes very fast. The ending is therefore also very strong, she knows how to impress.

If you mention the films Se7en and Saw on the poster, you should not be surprised that the comparison is made. And then I quickly notice that this W Delta Z is rather clichéd and quite boring. It's not really exciting anywhere and only when Selma Blair comes into the picture, I'm still with it for a while. But then the calf is already halfway into the canal. The film is well-intentioned, but comes across as too forced. There could have been more to this.

Shockingly bad.

And that from the same director as The Children. That makes a world of difference.

If you mention Saw and Se7en on the poster, you set the bar pretty high. Waz is a standard crime film, but very ugly. 0 atmosphere, 0 threat, and as transparent as can be. Throw in hilariously bad acting and you have a film that actually fails on all levels. Skarsgard isn't a best actor anyway, but this quasi-cool mumbling really doesn't work for me.

I actually only give 0.5* to films that make me angry, and that was just not quite the case.
