Charles Duchemin (Louis de Funès) is the unrelenting restaurant critic and publisher of an authoritative French culinary guide. At first he is at odds with his son (Coluche), who would rather play the clown than master the delicate art of gastronomy. However, when Tricatel, king of the ready-to-eat kitchen, threatens to take over the best restaurants in France to sell his uniform sausage, father and son spring into action.

It is always difficult to understand foreign humor films. But I really like De Funes, maybe because he uses so many facial expressions? It is sometimes also a kind of humor that you see more often in naked gun films, for example. That stupid, almost surreal humor. And then there's that head of De Funes, and those absurd dressing ups. But in addition to the weak humor, there is also some drama. Not just the bond with his son (who would rather enter the circus than follow in his father's footsteps). And then there's the fast food bad guy, Tricatel. wonderfully played too. Yes, it may not even be the best of De Funes' euvre, but it is a very nice one!

In his later years, Louis de Funès made some of his better comedies. He was a little less quick-tempered, but had an assortment of gestures and a funny facial expression. His opponent is Coluche, one of those French actors with only one name. It is a confrontation between two comedians of different generations and with different styles. Claude Gensac they aged with a gray wig.
The parody of the awarding of the Michelin stars gives rise to different kinds of humour. The great little comedian parodies the wine tasters with their mannerisms and their elitist tendencies. It gives rise to disguises, travesty, misunderstandings and deceit. There are also scenes of slapstick, physical comedy and car chases. Tricatel's satire on industrial food production also has a serious side. What's in our food? Think of dioxin and other crises that would follow.
Duchemin rules his surroundings like a little Napoleon. His insecure son doesn't dare to stand up for himself openly, leading to a double life. The sadness of a clown applies here. It all leads to a climax in the factory and a reckoning in the TV studio. The fast pace, the variety and the cheerful music give momentum to this entertaining comedy.
