Harry Donovan (Patric) is a painting forger. He gets a lucrative job to forge a painting by Rembrandt for $500,000 dollars. Before he goes to Amsterdam to get the job done, he goes to Paris. There he meets a woman, Marieke (Jacob), with whom he starts a relationship. However, it turns out that Marieke is an art expert and that Harry's clients are using her to investigate the authenticity of the Rembrandt.
