Trade plot
"Each year, more than 1,000,000 people are trafficked across international borders... against their will."
A young Polish woman seeking happiness in the United States is kidnapped by traffickers in Mexico. The same gang also kidnaps a 13-year-old Mexican girl and they are both taken to the United States to be sold as sex slaves. The girl's brother pursues them and on the way encounters an American police officer who is trying to find his missing daughter.

Watched it again yesterday, now on blu ray. Remarkably, I now had a large screen instead of the well-known black bars. Image looks good and warm and at times a bit grayer if necessary. The past uses some noise images. Sound and soundtrack are well taken care of.
It is a film that still touches me. A film with a heavy theme that is still very topical. Don't mind that this has been incorporated into a plot. After all, we are watching a movie and not a documentary. That is often mixed up here. Find this mix well made. Trade takes a bit long, maybe a bit too long, but is otherwise well developed. The whole trade is of course a dirty business and a shame that it still occurs so much. It's a shame in the film, I think the coincidences come together just too much to come to a plot. A bicycle that is noticed, the "loading" of the girls, the truck driver and so on. Trade is put together too easily to make it more exciting.
Still, Trade continues to touch me and the images are well shot. The Polish girl who jumps off the rock is of course a goosebump moment. The dialogues are often well chosen and the actors play their roles well. Especially the little Mexican girl who completely loses her dignity because of the scum. The moment she says that her mother doesn't want to see her anymore, because she has become that way because of her kidnappers is natural.
Trade has turned out to be a good exciting film (certainly no Hollywood sauce), with a theme that hopefully makes people think again. Now the politics!

Strong gripping film that is somewhere in between thriller and drama. The subject is extremely disgusting with the kidnapping and trafficking of children for ailing pedophiles. The film has some excellent scenes and decent acting. Nice tension too.
The course of the plot is sometimes a bit easy. I found it quite simple, especially with the transaction. Even with such a wide and relentlessly distributed network, it was very easy at home. How to assure yourself that you are not dealing with a police officer? A bit of coincidence here and there, but as a whole it is certainly a strong film. One that will reverberate for a while because of the hard theme.
Acting performances well done. The fears the girls endured was quite authentic. Strong moment also from the Polish girl when she jumps off the rock.

A great film that remains strong from the beginning to the end, is moving and also captivating, with a great story. That makes sense because "Trade" is a German/American film (2007) by director Marco Kreuzpaintner about trafficking in women and children. He based his story on a cover story "The Girls Next Door," which journalist Peter Landesman published in the New York Times on January 25, 2004.
Fortunately, Marco Kreuzpaintner has left the original languages intact so that English and Spanish are spoken in the film. Something like that gets extra appreciation from me!
It all starts in Mexico where the viewer is introduced to Jorge -Cesar Ramos- who lives with his sister Adriana with their mother. On her birthday, Jorge gives Adriana a beautiful girl's bicycle, one that Jorge has not obtained in a fair way. The girl is not allowed by her mother to cycle on it because she feels that a fair trade has not been done by Jorge.
Early the next morning, Adriana secretly goes on a bicycle tour and is kidnapped by a group of criminals for trafficking in children and women.
And with that, the thrilling movie story begins, Jorge goes after the bandits and his sister and eventually hopes to get her back home.
