Claire Ward hires private detective John March to keep an eye on her husband Charles, who spends a lot of time in a remote cottage. During a search, John and Claire find a diary of Charles' ancestors from 1771, containing documents about a number of gruesome murders that took place during that time. John and Claire then begin to suspect that something is seriously wrong with the experiments that Charles is doing in the old cottage...
