Since their only daughter Caitlin moved into rooms, Claire hears voices and continuously sees a young woman's face reflected in the water. Claire suspects that the bizarre phenomena have everything to do with the new neighbors. She even suspects Warren Feur of murdering his wife Mary. Excellent film with some very good jump scares that shocked me. It's a bit of a slow burner, but the atmosphere and the build-up of tension are very strong. Although that is perhaps also the biggest downside, because after the last real jumpscare around 50 minutes already, it weakens and we gradually get a change in tone. From then on, the plot continues to develop. That plot is ultimately quite simple but also contains morals. Suppose you have a thriving career as a researcher or I know what, but you are faced with the choices of Dr. Norman Spencer. What would you do then so that your life's work would not be lost through 1 stupidity. He probably made the wrong choice by not reporting it to the police, even if everything would be put in his shoes.

Michelle Pfeiffer, she reminds me a bit of a young version of Cara Delevinge, because of her big eyes and her lips that usually look like this. Actually I don't know her that well but she plays it believable. Ford is his cool self again with always the same expression. He always just plays himself and in itself that is not so bad in this film because he is really just an ordinary average but intelligent man.

I do have 1 tip if you watch this movie: make your sound really loud because the sounds are very important! I watched TV with headphones (I usually find an added value with horror + then it is usually already late to make too much noise).

Wonderful thriller with some very strong scares. Michelle Pfeiffer in one of her best roles ever usurped as the tension mounts and the denouement approaches. That tension is skillfully built up and the bathtub scene keeps you glued to the screen or film screen. Just a shame about that ending that there is something left, but yes, let's say karma. Because of that lesser ending, no maximum score, but still 4.5 stars. This movie did impress me though and I'm not sure I'll get a good night's sleep after watching this movie. One of the best thrillers ever made.

The critics are right that the story is quite ridiculous and even goes completely off the rails at the end with completely unbelievable twists and turns, but the film is one of the most exciting I've seen with that tension and horror working from start to finish and you keeps your seat glued. It's a bad movie but a wonderfully bad movie that exploits the clichés of the genre superbly.
