The Benchwarmers plot

"Get off the bench and get into the game."

The story about three men who are anything but athletic and therefore were never invited to participate in sports in the past. Out of frustration with their childhood, they form a three-man baseball team and compete against full-strength high school teams. Unexpectedly, their initiative appears to appeal to many children who feel disadvantaged because they are not very good at sports.

Reasonable.

Started very well. The three losers together makes for some very nice scenes. It's a shame that the league starts after that, which makes it lean more towards a sports film. Too bad about the uberfake ending, I always find it so unnecessary.

Bit of an odd setup. Schneider is the serious actor in this film, the weird characters are passed by for supporting roles. They do very well. Heder, Spade and Swarsdon provide enough funny scenes. Only so strange that the pit went out a bit after halfway through, with the exception of a few isolated scenes (the dwarf in his basement fort).

It is certainly not top-notch, but it is fast-paced entertainment that unfortunately derails somewhat towards the end. One of the better Schneider films so far, although the humor mainly comes from his companions..

I have to say that I found it quite entertaining at times. It all starts very funny and all those losers together make a funny couple. Rob Schneider is reasonable in a slightly more serious role, but it is mainly his companions who provide the humor.

It all gets a bit less fun halfway through. The baseball games provide a bit of too much repetition and towards the end there are also just too many morals woven into it. But other than that it's quite entertaining.

Funny supporting roles, a very pleasant playing time and some nice finds, ensure that it is all good to watch. Just a pity about the annoying morals, otherwise I certainly could have spent a sufficient amount on this.
