I don't like watching war movies, and I had that feeling for the first 20 minutes. I was tempted to turn off the movie but decided not to. I think it's a very boring film, very slow and above all sleep-inducing. Excellently acted, beautifully portrayed, but I don't find any sensation or tension in it. To describe this as a thriller is a bit of an exaggeration, I would rather call it a drama. The great atmosphere around Hannibal cannot be found either. Glad I saw this movie, even if it's with mixed feelings. Some things don't really add up. For example, there is the kidnapping of his aunt, while in principle there was police guard at the house. Weird that the cops wouldn't have noticed this. Definitely not a masterpiece and I wouldn't recommend it to those around me.

All negative comments aside, everyone has their own opinion, but this movie is perfect!
Fits in very well.
Sublime atmosphere and the Lecter traits and ways of reacting are well in it.
Enjoyed several times.

Unnecessary, but entertaining nonetheless. Superfluous, because the background of a great character is often a bit disappointing. The biggest shortcoming in this film is also the lack of Hopkins, which is of course inevitable, because it is about the youth of his character. Ulliel does a decent job, but just lacks Hopkins charisma. Remarkable further to find Gong Li in this film. I didn't expect her English to be so good. But also strange that she plays a Japanese. Enough Americans playing other nationalities, but in the case of a Chinese playing a Japanese, it still feels strange.
The film is also well made with occasional pleasant violence, but also not as sinister as in some other Hannibal films. 2*.
