I'm not a Spielberg fan, nor a hater. Like most directors, he has very good and bad films to his name. Munich is clearly one of his lesser ones and I don't really understand where the many positive reviews came from. Where Munich especially goes wrong is when Spielberg tries to do something other than tell a straightforward story. If it's forcibly seeking nuance in the conflict with the Palestinians for example (that team of rather ridiculous "mixed terrorists they run into and the discussion that follows, or trying to show moral struggles or the weakest how[ spoiler] the events in Munich are put into very clumsy movie edited flashbacks (through an airplane window and into two dreams, come on) The movie is best as some kind of straight forward spy thriller and has some a nice build-up of tension, but is much too flat and tidy and has too little eye for raunchiness and the real moral questions (in more than a weak dialogue please) and is therefore really too safe. a much better movie, but the best is still the quartet Duel, Jaws, Schindlers List and my favorite AI

Munich is a film that is incredibly gripping in its story. That is also clearly felt after seeing this film. I thought it was a good movie but a bit long winded at times. Everything could have gone a little smoother. Not that slow movies are necessarily bad, but I don't think it worked here.

After the hostage-taking and eventual death of 11 Israeli athletes during the 1972 Munich Olympics, Israel's secret service decides to repay those involved in the responsible terrorist organization in a series of attacks. This reconstruction of the retaliation follows the Israeli agents involved and focuses primarily on Aver [Eric Bana], who increasingly questions the justification for the attacks in which he is involved. Spielberg leaves it to the viewer to form an opinion, but focuses too much on moral issues, which means that this takes an unnecessarily long time and does not always hold attention. The acting is exemplary and Spielberg appears to be very good with the thriller elements. Contains some memorable moments, but is unnecessarily long.
