Quite apart.

The first hour is the most beautiful. A kind of modern fairy tale that indeed borrows a lot from Beauty & The Beast, but manages to come across as somewhat darker and more mysterious.

Visually very well taken care of (beautiful decoration of Downey's room too) and pleasant soundtrack. The middle part goes a step further and at times even becomes a bit absurd.

The last part became a bit more earthy and therefore a bit less. Still some scenes that stick (like the shave), but the romantic part just managed to captivate a bit less.

Kidman & Downey both do well, further much beautiful, but a bit of a shame about the somewhat lesser ending. Still a nice surprise this film, quite special and makes me curious about Secretary.

This way they can still make portraits, instead of the dry stuff that this kind of cinema usually is.

3.5*

Strange film this. The subject is fascinating and Kidman and Downey Jr. do reasonably well. But the real reason for the sufficient is the fact that I watched this film in one go without looking at the clock or checking how much longer it would last and that is quite something for me. Ty Burrell also plays a creditable role.

Nicole Kidman marathon 26#

Unique and special film. On my list for a long time. Nicole knows how to choose roles. This is another specific role that challenges her and is so different from the rest. I admire that in her. She can handle anything.

When I put the film on I didn't really know what to expect. I actually expected a biography of a ''famous'' photographer that could possibly become boring, but it quickly takes on completely different forms. Luckily I didn't look at any background information or reviews otherwise I think it would have been less. I didn't expect this at all! So when I was so surprised I could actually enjoy it more and wait to see which way it would go.

The ending is a bit too abrupt for me, could have been a bit more rounded and specific for me. The rest is easy to watch and well put together. Recommended.
