"O. Henry's Full House" is a compilation in which five directors each film a story by the famous American writer O. Henry. The story "The Cop and the Anthem" (by Henry Koster) is about a drifter who tries to get into prison to spend the winter there. "The Clarion Call" (by Henry Hathaway) is about a police officer who has to arrest an old friend. In "The Last Leaf" (by Jean Negulesco), a sick woman sees the coming end of her life depicted in the falling autumn leaves. "The Ransom of Red Chief" (by Howard Hawks) is about two kidnappers who kidnap a child. And "The Gift of the Magi" (Henry King) tells the story of two newlyweds who struggle to find a suitable Christmas present for each other.
