Black Beauty plot
"A master picture - better than the book"
An early film version of Anna Sewell's well-known book from 1878; Jack Beckett (George Webb) steals £800 from Lord Wynwaring and the only witness, George Gordon, is killed during a fox hunt. Jack tells George's sister Jessie (Jean Paige) that her brother was the thief. Jessie agrees to marry Jack later in exchange for his silence. Jessie's father buys a horse, Black Beauty, which turns out to be a very intelligent animal. Jack Beckett insists that Jessie marry him, but in the meantime she has fallen in love with Harry Blomefield (James Morrison). Beckett plans to kidnap Jessie from a train, but Harry, with the help of Black Beauty, can stop it.
