The film from the Top 250 that I dreaded the most.
Fortunately, everything turns out to be fine. Precisely because I knew absolutely nothing about the person Bob Dylan beforehand. The name was known to me, but whether he was dead or alive and which songs belonged to him, I had no idea and never made any effort to google him.
The 200 minutes went by quite smoothly. Bob Dylan speaking himself was a bit boring. The story about his rise, his (hypocritical) fans, the content of Bob Dylan `s music and the many conversations with people who worked with him were interesting. Although I would have liked to know more about Bob Dylan's home situation.
I had never heard the music before, but I found it quite enjoyable for once. The exception to that rule is: Like a Rolling Stone. A nice song that I immediately added to my mp3 playlist. A 3*

2 years after his documentary The Blues, this documentary about Bob Dylan was released. Scorsese knows how to make a documentary, but the difference with The Blues is big. That is really made with love and respect in contrast to the somewhat standard portrait of Dylan. Fans of the singer will certainly get their money's worth here. And even as a music lover found it quite interesting. Lots of visual material, the master himself speaking and a reflection of the zeitgeist. As a movie I found it rather standard and at times quite scary. Then the creative biopic I'm not there would have been more useful to me.

Fascinating documentary; gets off to a slow start and music-wise absolutely not my thing, but the complex Dylan and his special life story certainly provide entertaining viewing. With more than 3 1/2 hours of course on the very long side, but I was never bored anywhere. Beautiful interviews with the man himself and a wealth of special archive material.
