About Last Night... plot

"Making love was easy...being in love difficult."

Danny Martin wants to stay single and so does Debbie Sullivan. After a night out in Chicago, Danny and Debbie head to his apartment for just the predictable one-night stand. Their affair is unfettered, passionate and most likely soon over, until the unthinkable happens: they want to meet again. The start of their intense relationship gets on the nerves of Danny's free-spirited boyfriend and Debbie's cynical roommate. Danny and Debby then discover that a relationship is more than just sharing a bed.

Airy but fun. Just a little different from the many teen movies you had at the time. Not much special but nice. James Belushi as the clunky, sexist goorlap, is a role that he often has and that is also made for him. Without his role I think I would give the film a point less. His role ensures that there is still a bit of action in it. But hey, like I said. Quite fun.

Good film in which a man and woman dive into bed together during their first date and one thing leads to another. Quite cliché, but the moments that every couple has to deal with are sincere enough. Sometimes a bit sweet. Some entertaining dialogues, a typical 80s soundtrack and a fine cast, which marked the debut for Elizabeth Perkins. A narrow 3.5 stars.

As is often the case with films from this period, the memory was actually more beautiful than the film itself. And that memory was a bit rickety on more points, I actually thought it was Tom Cruise who played the lead opposite Demi Moore...

But yeah. In retrospect, it's not really that special, not very special acting either. Nice to see the young Lowe and Moore, but they don't have much to offer. That I thought a little differently about that at the time, yes, that's probably just me. Nevertheless, they may be clichés that the film eagerly dish out, but on the other hand, it is a story that you can apply with a little abstraction to just about any relationship. And yes, it is performed quite charmingly, although the production values are a bit 80's.

Belushi is by far the nicest by the way, and the combination with Perkins is genius. There could have been a little more room for that.
