Lonely Hearts plot
"True love can be murder."
The true story of Martha Beck and her accomplice Raymond Fernandez, who robbed and murdered 17 women in the 1940s, lured by putting love ads in the newspaper. Because of this, they were soon called the 'Lonely Hearts Killers'.

Pleasant, quite cruel crime film, with a good John Travolta, but above all an excellent one

Big setback.
I usually like these kinds of serial killer pics, but Robinson limits himself greatly by focusing largely on the detective rather than the killers and their horrific deeds. Instead, we get a somewhat confused story about a detective who seems to have quite a few problems with the death of his wife. The potentially atmospheric setting also does not come to life, and Travolta and Leno act only moderately. Hayek seems to be the only one on level. It's still nice to follow, but it doesn't really convince.
