The Principal plot
"He's teaching the students at Brandel High two words... NO MORE."
Teacher Rick Latimer gets angry because his ex-wife's lawyer is messing with her. He smashes the lawyer's car and loses his job as a teacher. After this, he is transferred to a school full of gear where he becomes the headmaster. Violence, drugs, truancy and rape are the order of the day. He wants to put a stop to this, but just saying it has to end is not enough.

Nice role by Belushi. The film could have been cut a bit sharper on the editing table.
Furthermore, the film does follow the clichés of this type of story, but personally I don't mind this.

Mediocre film in which a teacher reluctantly becomes director of a school where violence is rife. All pretty standard and clichéd and unbelievable characters. Also typically a product from the 80s (the soundtrack and decoration). Still quite entertaining, especially because of a fine role by James Belushi as the principal.

Clumsy but also too entertaining to be bad. Rick Latimer becomes principal of a troubled school where delinquents and drug dealers rule. He wants to put things back in order. This film is not looking for messages or social criticism. The Principal is primarily an action movie in which Belushi and Gossett Jr flex their muscles. A movie like Class of 1984 is better in this genre.
