Mad God is a nasty and peculiar project from a director who clearly has a background in this profession. He also worked on it for 30 years, so you can deliver a result that matters. Although I didn't always like the film myself, I must admit that it has become an impressive thing.
This film exudes a lot of horror and that works advantageously. From the start you can sense that there is a lot going on in this film that exudes nightmares. Thanks to an impressive piece of slow motion, this is also made possible, and Tippett does not forget to add variety to his film. Lots of different kinds of monsters walk by, and it often works.
There is no real story in it, as a viewer you are expected to find out the meaning of the film yourself. Several concepts can be linked to the film, but in the end the film gives you the chance to come up with all kinds of things. There is no clear line, the main character even disappears completely from the film after a while and you get to see a completely different path.
What I regretted is that it didn't feel like I was immersed in the film. It's not really overwhelming. It feels relatively small. Despite the obvious passion for both slow motion and horror, I just couldn't find much in the film that I really liked. Few seriously cool scenes, despite the fact that the film is pretty freaky.
Furthermore, it is all darker and more intense than you would think, something that I did not immediately expect. I certainly enjoyed it, but I'm not a big fan of the vagueness and I just miss those right scenes. Furthermore, a relatively crazy film with a large dose of passion and variation. I think the fans will enjoy this, it can't be any other way.

A completely unique film ... only now you also have Junk Head, a film that has a lot of similarities with this Mad God in terms of concept, development and background, which makes it quite difficult not to compare the two films. Still, you shouldn't do it too much, because they are completely own films that can easily stand on their own.
Mad God is above all a visual jewel. Dark stop-motion executed in rich detail. The world you end up in is extremely creative. The narrative is otherwise limited, but there is so much to see that it really doesn't matter at all.
There are also minuses. For example, the few live-action scenes are not ideal, the soundtrack is not powerful enough and the structure of the film is also a bit strange, but that pales in comparison to all the beautiful things Tippett shows here. A very cool film, recommended for fans of stop-motion animation and dark fantasy.

Reasonable film in which a man descends into a world full of monsters. This stop-motion movie looks beautiful in all its gore. The dystopian world comes out beautifully and can certainly be called original. Story-wise all too vague and it doesn't really help that there are no dialogues. Despite the short playing time, I had seen it at some point.
