Deadly tiring, but also with brilliant ideas. Indeed a very atypical comedy with a furious pace. Saw it a few years ago as a Zomergasten film. A film that deserves to be seen more often.

3.5*.

Original, absurd, burlesque, with plenty of slapstick scenes alongside lots of surprising, comedic dialogue.

It also seems somewhat satirical towards the American musical to me, but it never becomes mean.

The ballet and Martha Ray's very remarkable, energetic performance are particularly successful.

Out of series musical.

If this was the inspiration for Airplane, it was certainly one of the lamest I have ever seen. Airplane and The Naked Gun series were hilarious, but here the same type of jokes don't work at all 99% of the time. This is mainly due to the forced attempt to be funny, and especially the loud and hectic pace, which quickly started to get on my nerves. Airplane and especially The Naked Gun work much better because of the lightheartedness and natural style; here there is a constant vibe of: "Oh, we're being funny again."

No, I didn't like this at all.
