O Pagador de Promessas plot
Zé is a poor man who lives in the Brazilian countryside. When his donkey becomes mortally ill, Zé makes a promise to God: if his donkey survives, he will carry a cross on his back from the countryside to the capital. When the donkey actually heals, Zé sets off.
