Yes, you can wake me up in the middle of the night for this kind of movie: villains who all distrust each other (including those two macabre grandmasters George Zucco and Lionel Atwill), beautiful but deadly women (including someone who runs a Psychic Research Laboratory), a dark house full of secret passages, a shadowy past that resurfaces, thankfully no forced comic relief, atmospheric wisps of fog as soon as you step out the door, and after all that festivity, a beautiful, uncompromising resolution. Echoes of And then there were none and The cat and the canary, and although this B-movie doesn't come close to the level of those two illustrious predecessors, I enjoyed myself exceptionally well. Wonderful movie.
