The Black Velvet Gown plot

1834. The Earl gives Riah shelter and clothes and teaches her children to read, write and Latin. After a while she is even allowed to wear his mother's black velvet dress, but with this she feels trapped on the estate, even after his death. Her eldest daughter goes to work as a maid, she is blamed for being educated and even sharing knowledge.
