After watching the lousy third part yesterday, I decided today to just go ahead and check out the first part. I have to say that this part is quite an improvement in story, execution and cast. Of course it's not really high-quality, but in terms of entertainment this first part is easy to do and there is quite regularly some nice action in it. The cast is quite impressive for a "Uwe Boll" and they did a pretty good job, especially the beautiful Kristanna Loken as "Rayne". The fact that she could also be seen topless for a while was of course a nice bonus Oh well, all in all, just a nice film to have seen.

Not expected, but this turned out to be a fun, kitschy movie. Because of Boll, I had zero expectations in terms of acting, sets and story, but it was all not too bad for me. For a change, even Michael Madsen came out well. Then you secretly even have a good product in your hands. Too bad so many people vote for the director's name. Boll has directed complete shit, but this is way better than that. If you like to see bad things, you may not be made difficult indeed, but I saw a movie that was made with pleasure with many nice nods to the equally kitschy fantasy films of the seventies and eighties. The action could have been better and the plot doesn't deserve originality awards, but it all felt good and the atmosphere was good.

Moderate Bol.

I try to see the positive in everything, and that includes a name like Boll. Boll is not a bad director, but he is the victim of a lot of hatred. It's probably because he's dealing with it in a special way, and you'll soon be calling it out on yourself. BloodRayne is, in any case, below par.

The quality of the film isn't even that bad. The sets look good, the costumes nice too. The effects are a bit woody at times, but nothing serious. There is clearly some money in this film and Boll knows how to handle it nicely. The cinematography and filters are also quite spot on. Everything is well lit and has a reasonable atmosphere, I'll pass that on to the film.

Unfortunately, the action scenes are otherwise rather substandard. Very boring edited but especially lifeless choreographed. Rather boring sword fights that are portrayed in a fairly regular way. It is nowhere cool or innovative, but it lacks charm to take it all to a higher level.

Furthermore, the story continues despite the reasonable pace. It should be clear that Boll was not very interested in a good story and just did what he thought was fun. Unfortunately, when it comes to video games, his vision falls a bit short. The film lacks a good and funny script, but also cool action.

Acting is still doable, although Rodriguez is very lost. BloodRayne will pass you by quickly. There is plenty to criticize about the film, but in the end there are also positives. I didn't think the film itself was that bad, but there is always room for improvement. The pity is that Boll was too stubborn at the time to see that himself.
