The War Bride plot
It is September 1940 in war-ravaged London. Lily (Anna Friel) and best friend Sophie (Julie Cox) fall madly in love with two handsome Canadian soldiers Charlie (Aden Young) and Louie (Ben Weinberger). The romance is rampant and soon the two couples get married. Within a year, Lily leaves for Canada with her newborn daughter to meet new family there. However, embittered mother-in-law Betty (Brenda Ficker) and her crippled sister-in-law Sylvia (Molly Parker) don't like Lily's urban ways. Slowly she begins to regret that she has traded her precious home front for the Canadian landscape and a family that doesn't even want her around her.
