De Stand van de Zon plot

The Position of the Sun is a film about daily life in Indonesia. After a reign of thirty-two years, Suharto had to resign in 1998 as a result of a raging crisis. It was the beginning of a turbulent period that in Indonesia is called the Reformasi. Since then, ongoing political changes in Indonesia have been accompanied by uprisings, poverty and insecurity. Two hundred million Indonesians suffer as a result. This includes the main characters from De Stand van de Zon: the 60-year-old woman Rumidjah and her sons Bakti and Dwi.
