Nice Star Trek movie. A bit of the same level as the majority. I thought Kirk's role was a bit bigger than I expected. He is the literal protagonist in the first 20 minutes and last half hour of the film in which he saves twice So what did people expect from this transitional film? The other old cast members are a bit worn out or missing altogether.

The whole 'generations' theme is nicely woven into that transition and Picard's feelings about aging fit in nicely with that. That whole nexus is a nice idea that also fits well with that, but the scenes in that nexus are extremely disappointing. The whole is nice and diverse, but not everything works. The whole sideline with the feelings of data has been picked up a bit, as has the rather bland ceremony on the ship. The beginning where Ferris Bueller's day off shows Cameron as an unskilled captain, the sidelines of the Klingons die, the crash of the enterprise and the role of Malcolm McDowell as the villain are nice.

And so it is with most Star Trek movies. It's quite entertaining, the theme isn't uninteresting, but in the end I still have the feeling that there was more to it. 3 stars but again.

Ha, a changing of the guard with the new (to me anyway) familiar faces. In itself okay and it gives the film series the necessary breath of fresh air. Thought it was nice to see some new characters like a Data and Geordi at work. In terms of looks, it also looked quite decent. Star Trek is always very strong in that regard. The story alone, however, I found a bit weak and dull. So lean enough.

I still think this is one of the nicest and after First Contact the best Star Trek movie! Real Trek stuff, so no action-oriented rush job, but just a story that is well put together and makes you think about how you would deal with the Nexus, a kind of heaven. And it makes bad guy Malcolm McDowell's motive understandable.

One might grumble that some characters like Worf have nothing to do. But hey this is about Picard and Kirk mostly. And I think they gave Kirk a dignified goodbye with this, he's also funny and headstrong in the movie.

The beginning is also very humorous because of Data. Which, by the way, I strongly agree with his action towards doctor Crusher. That's a beautiful scene.
