The Tall Stranger plot
"Savagely written by the author of "Hondo"!"
Ned Bannon, a former Union officer, is attacked by a mysterious figure in a remote area and left for dead. However, Ned is rescued by settlers (including ex-Confederate soldiers) who, with the help of Scout Mort Harper, are on their way to California's Bishop Valley to settle there. But Ned soon discovers that something strange is going on with Harper's true intentions.
