"What do you do when justice fails?"

Karen McCann is a lucky woman. She lives a carefree life in a suburb of LA with her husband and two daughters. When she calls her oldest daughter Julie one afternoon, she hears how her daughter is assaulted and murdered. A few weeks later, Detective Joe Denillo announces that he has arrested the rapist. The evidence is overwhelming and the verdict seems obvious. But the defense invokes a procedural error and the killer is released. However, he rapes a woman again. For Karen, this is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

No more than a glorified TV film that gets a very convincing character thanks to the character portrayed by Kiefer Sutherland. cheers.

Solid thriller with a fine role for Sally Field. Kiefer Sutherland plays a terribly disgraceful guy, he really has the head and attitude for it.

Even in movies the law is incomprehensibly soft for criminals, it seemed,,,,typically Belgian.

As soon as the name Kiefer Sutherland appears on the screen you know: he must be the killer. Not that this is a whodunit or anything, but still.
Sally Field, with her sad, dark eyes, is the right person for this kind of bold drama: Cape Fear meets Wednesday night film.
The director has probably tried to deepen the theme of grief, but does so in such a pompous way that it feels uncomfortable: Sally who starts laughing on the day her daughter is buried, Sally who suddenly feels very much like sex..
Also so hysterical and Hollywood through and through: the murder scene. Sally Field is stuck in traffic and on the phone with her daughter on the car phone. At that moment, her daughter is attacked in the house and Sally can hear everything that is happening. Total panic, of course. I don't think I need to explain what that looks like: Sally Field in a panic.
To make matters worse, that ice statue also flickers off that table haha...
Very unbelievable that such a murderer goes free twice and the police can do nothing.
Nevertheless, I was not bored with this film.
