Hopefully the worst of the series...

Now it seems very unlikely to me that a worse film like this will be made, even in the Tomie series.

The amateurism radiates from the film. The camerawork is terrible and the light is also no party. The music is (except for the OST, which was quite funny) terrible and can be compared to a manual music for example in an airplane. The acting is just as bad.

The first story is probably the best (least bad). Here and there there are still those little atmospheric moments. That was it. For the rest the same comment as above.

The second and third stories were both even worse. Especially the second story was very long-winded and especially very ugly. The third story was just as ugly and boring actually.

It's a shame to actually write about this. I often wanted to turn the film off and then just give it a 0.5, but that's not me. Watched it all the way through and am quite proud of myself for having persevered without sending an angry letter to the director.

Well deserved * 0.5.

Still curious about the rest of the series. I wonder how this monstrosity got a 5.5 on IMDB?

Random Tomie.

I've seen quite a few Tomie movies, but the series is never memorable and I've never really seen them in order. No idea if it makes much sense as a series, in any case the individual movies are easy to watch separately.

It's not all that serious or well-developed. The Tomie legend is brought up again here, but 72 minutes was still too long to make one story, so this time just 3 separate stories. In itself not that bad, so there is still some variation in it.

You don't have to do it for the great camerawork, the acting or the atmospheric music, but stories 2 and 3 in particular manage to create some atmosphere. It also helps that it all goes quite smoothly and doesn't drag on unnecessarily.

The Tomie series remains something special. There is far too little quality in the concept, but somehow there have been many films made around the Tomie legend. On the other hand, these films will not have cost much and that Japanese suspense did well in the past, regardless of quality.

2.0*

Surprisingly low score...

Apparently there is a whole series about Tomie. Despite the weak quotes I was pleasantly surprised, especially since it concerns my first Tomie. A mysterious girl appears in three different short films. Nice Japanese anthology. Great is an exaggeration, but I thought it was quite OK. All three parts are quite equal.

The first part is more teenage horror where Tomie keeps popping up, no matter what happens to her. I found the character mysterious and creepy. Silent look, creepy smile. Nice! That line is continued in the other parts.

The photographer thinks he has had a great one night stand, but there is much more going on. And in the other part she seems like a raving shrew who orders her boyfriend to kill a homeless man. Enjoyed it! I want to see more of it.
