One of the first films in which comedian Jim Carrey had a leading role. This film did not do him much harm, because he really broke through about 10 years later in the film "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)".

This film can safely be labeled as bad/mediocre, because it doesn't amount to much (bland story and lame humor) and the humor is also nothing to write home about. The film (including the music) breathes the 80s nicely and that is perhaps the best thing about this film. The film is described as a Comedy / Horror, but the latter only applies because the story revolves around a female vampire (Lauren Hutton, she sometimes showed off her cleavage). But this film has absolutely nothing to do with horror and this is therefore a pure comedy. Admittedly a lame comedy.

The cast including Jim Carrey (you could tell he had comedic talent) don't do a great job, but for a film like this they can get away with it. I saw this film on the nice TV channel MGM.

Back in the 80s, when you still had real vampires and big-hair ladies.

There are really only two reasons why this film deserves any attention - it is one of Jim Carrey's first roles in a 'real' film (I thought of the word 'serious' at first, but that doesn't fit very well). For his real die-hard fans, all you regular folks can skip this one. Or the other reason anyway - because Lauren Hutton plays along. Wow, what a beautiful woman she is, and the film makes great use of that.

Other than that there is little going on - a typical vampire comedy with all the obligatory cliches in the plot. It doesn't necessarily get scary anywhere, that was certainly not the case at the time - and I can't think of a vampire film that is really scary at all.

Sixties top model Lauren Hutton in an eighties comedy. She's a pretty sexy cougar here, but a little too skinny for my taste. She seems malnourished. For a starving vampire, that's actually allowed. Some lame and sexually explicit and parodic vampire humor with an early role by Jim Carrey who fires his first pelvic twitches at the audience. He is in a hurry to lose his virginity, but his girlfriend wants to wait for the "right time". With his pants full of desire, he is easily seduced by an ancient vampire lady who, however, is interested in a different kind of bodily fluids

Watched this movie mainly for Carrey. Even on TV they would not dare to play this film anymore, but there were still some successful jokes in it. When Carrey's nerd friends start hitting on girls in a laundry there was a good condom joke. The weakest part of the film was in the last half hour.
