The first part is carefully built around the mystery and has a few fun moments with those weird-looking aliens who actually don't want to harm the humans. They are actually afraid of the humans and want to get their spaceship back in order as quickly as possible and return. A fun, original concept!
In the second part, some flaws do surface: the build-up to the climax is presented somewhat hastily, and the way the final scene unfolds is simply weakly executed. 6/10

This is certainly what I like to imagine a fifties sci-fi camp to be like. A sleepy village on the edge of the desert startled by an impact from space. Aliens caught between good and evil. Division within the Earthlings' camp. A fun scream queen (portrayed here by Barbara Rush). And a fitting musical score in which the theremin, of course, cannot be missing. Excellent direction and atmosphere creation. A success, then!

In this genre, we are used to so much more in terms of budgets, A-list actors, and effects. It looks quite clumsy and low-budget, but in a way, that is also the charm of the genre. It is no Plan 9 from Outer Space yet, but it does work as a B-movie where the makers are creative with the limited budget. The whole thing also looks kitsch, and we don't get to see any famous actors. Don't expect a high-brow film, but fans of the genre will likely enjoy it.
