Toy Story 5 plot

"It's on."

Since Woody left young Bonnie to help abandoned toys find new homes, Jessie has taken charge of Bonnie's room. She's helped by Buzz Lightyear, who serves as her left hand. However, Bonnie, now eight years old, is most captivated by her new favorite toy, a frog-like tablet called Lilypad. Jessie then asks Woody to come back to help them, because the tablet wants to separate Bonnie from her other toys.

Toy Story 5
Pretty good movie, very fun, much better than part 4, but not on the same level as part 3; it's on the same level as part 2. Enough humor and suspense and the necessary nostalgia. The only downside. [They are constantly trying not to show themselves as alive or moving to people. But here, at one point, they are floating/flying with a group of toys in front of tunnel traffic, everyone can see them!/spoiler]

After part 3, the story about growing up and letting go had pretty much been told; part 4 told a different story, but this fifth installment is definitely a repetition of the same formula. Admittedly with updates (including updates on toys, there are actually some nice ideas in that regard) and a message that isn't exactly hammered home subtly. But despite the repetition, Pixar at least still has something to say with this.

However, that doesn't automatically make the film good. In fact, this installment is the weakest in the series. The first hour, in particular, is quite loud and hectic; Jessie is more in the foreground now, but she is simply less interesting. Furthermore, those segments with all sorts of Buzz Lightyears are okay in themselves, but they disrupt the pace and narrative somewhat each time. The film still has enough pace to avoid boredom, but otherwise, it didn't do much for me. It is only in the last half hour that the film improves. It becomes calmer and focuses more on emotion, and that works. In any case, the film ends well.

Visually decent but nothing special, although I did think the style of the action scenes was cool. 3.0*.

An excellent film about a girl who no longer cares for her toys when she gets a tablet. Although this fifth installment seems like a repetition at times, it is once again presented in a particularly entertaining and adventurous manner. The characters remain fun, and the humor is successful as well. This installment also has its heart in the right place again.
