Womanizer and confirmed bachelor Alexander [Thomas Niehaus] unexpectedly finds love with the vivacious dancer Paula [Aenne Schwarz]. The whirlwind affair takes a tragic turn when Paula dies in an accident and Alexander reconnects with her family, including her shy sister Marlene [Sarah Hostettler], who always stood in Paula's shadow. Sharing memories results in a complex relationship that, despite the excellent acting, is a weak version of Vertigo, complete with its attendant implausibilities. Beautifully filmed by Katharine Bühler.
