The first big film of this year, much better than expected.

The trailer looked pretty good... But I was never really convinced by Gosling's films, until this one!

Gosling really managed to convince me with this film; very impressive acting performances from everyone, actually.

Visually incredibly strong as well.

The story was a bit shaky at times, but the humor really made it enjoyable.

The first surprise of this year is a fact; hopefully, it does well at the box office. This film really deserves it, you know.

Hopefully we're off to a good start for this year with the top movies

Disappointing. It was touted as the new Interstellar/Gravity, but it isn't. It is basically everything you've already seen in other films, only occasionally in a spatial setting. The story is wafer-thin, and the film's message isn't exactly rocket science either Ryan Gosling played Ryan Gosling again, just like he has often done in recent years (a charismatic nerd with cheesy humor). The film did indeed drag on too long; I regularly thought this is the end... But unfortunately, it dragged on a bit longer. I think this is one of those films that many people will forget quickly. Also an Amazon original, so it will be available on Prime in a while.

I can still recall exact scenes from Interstellar/Gravity from the first time I saw it in the cinema (the experience). But not with this film.

I haven't read the book, so maybe you have a bit more of a connection to it.

Fist my bump!

No, thank you .

And so, more has been turned upside down. Just when you think the planet is warming up too much, it turns out we are all dying because it is getting way too cold!

Entertaining and lighthearted sci-fi despite the impending doom for humanity. The sun is being devoured by small, bacteria-like organisms that hoard energy and spread throughout the universe. As a result, they also prove useful as storage for long space journeys. This can be deployed to travel to a planet where the organisms appear to have no influence. This mission offers the only hope, but not much: a Hail Mary.

It is a clever concept, although credibility is not its strongest point. An inexperienced astronaut who has to complete a space mission practically single-handedly. Probes reaching Earth in no time. Complex solutions realized at the speed of light with giant strides, which science would probably need decades to achieve. And what about all those stars that haven't gone out, for that matter? And while what goes wrong comes across as dramatic, it ultimately turns out to have little to no consequence. In this way, a sense of hopelessness is artificially injected into the plot, which turns out to be false.

The alien rock creature and the interaction with it are among the more enjoyable moments in the film, which is admittedly a bit lengthy. Gosling is also in his element, although by now I think: why don't you think of a different actor when you're making a film? He is in that list of "safe choices," and not undeservedly so (I liked him best in The Nice Guys), but he has become pretty much the new Matt Damon (and he was chosen for the predecessor, the somewhat duller The Martian).

Nice movie, but children are easily satisfied these days. So much trash is being made that people are satisfied much more easily. After all, people haven't been used to a decent story for a long time, and this finally has a bit more creativity.
