Swamp Dogg is the pseudonym for Jerry Williams Jr., born in 1942, and is one of the cult figures in American music history. In this documentary, he and his musical friends and companions, Moogstar and Guitar Shorty, look back on his life as a singer, musician, songwriter, and producer while his swimming pool undergoes a radical makeover. The filmmakers try to forcibly embellish a conventional portrait of an unconventional figure with visual tricks and strange cutscenes, and that was completely unnecessary. Swamp Dogg and his life story speak for themselves, even if the good man is, to say the least, a bit self-absorbed.
