At 22:30 on a workday I ventured into the cinema again and yes indeed, almost the entire hall to myself! Where I was bored again during the commercials with the announcement of yet another sequel, I know what you did last summer, Conjuring, Mission Impossible, this was now a nice original horror film. More gore than horror. Sally Hawkins as an old witch played very well and that little freak provided the necessary tension. Not a moment of boredom. With this director duo at the controls I will happily spend money on a film again.

It's been a while since I've seen a good horror, most are mediocre or just plain crap, but this movie pleasantly surprised me. A fun, original and exciting story, the acting is more than fine with a fantastic role by Sally Hawkins, and it all looks good too. I don't often give 4 stars (and very rarely a horror) but this movie gets them from me. Recommended!

Was really looking forward to this film because of the high ratings and the fact that it was written in various places that this was the best horror film of 2025.......Well, if this is the best horror, then the rest is really very sad. I found Bassie & Adriaan and the Pest much scarier than this film. What a huge disappointment. Can't really give it more than 2 stars. Must honestly admit that the acting performances were good (especially Jonah Wren Phillips) but the film itself: very disappointing.
