Sob a Chama da Candeia plot

In the north of Portugal, two women have been sharing their daily lives for 60 years in a house that still seems to be inhabited by the generations that preceded them. The present, the near and the distant past live side by side in this house full of memories and ghosts. Alzira, the lady of the house, has devoted herself to a strict husband and has given up her love of the piano and painting. Beatriz, the maid, has dedicated her life to taking care of the house and Alzira's children. They have now reached the end of their lives. Beatriz complains about her tired body. Alzira, freed by the death of her husband, makes a decision for the first time that is hers alone...
