Chris Lemons is a diver carrying out repairs in the treacherous North Sea. When his support vessel’s navigation system fails, it drifts away from him, snaps his connecting cable and he is stranded in the murky depths with only minutes of oxygen. As his colleagues Duncan Allcock and David Yuasa try to save him, he must breathe his last until rescue can arrive.

Last Breath
Last Breath is a thriller about a diver who gets trapped deep in the North Sea with limited oxygen. His team must race against time to save him.
The story was unknown to me, fortunately, because otherwise I would have known the outcome. Still, I thought it was a great film. With a short playing time and a good pace, the film managed to hold my attention. It became really exciting at the moment that Chris is left alone and the crew does everything they can to save Chris.
With 29 minutes without oxygen I didn't expect him to survive, but due to the circumstances, the cold and the depth of the sea, he miraculously survived. The camerawork was excellent and compelling. The actors did well too, although the character development remained a bit superficial, which limited the emotional impact somewhat. But for a 90-minute film that is perhaps not entirely to be expected.
What makes the film especially strong is how realistically it portrays the dangers of deep-sea diving. The ending with footage of the real Chris and his crew and the fact that he went back to work three weeks later was a nice addition.
All in all, Last Breath is a thrilling and gripping thriller that realistically portrays the dangers of deep-sea diving. Although the character development remains somewhat limited, the tension and strong camera work make up for a lot.

Reasonable drama. The story is true and it may be an advantage if you are not familiar with it before you watch the film. The structure is good and the film gives an interesting insight into the world of working deep under water. Furthermore, the film is also easy to watch thanks to the continuous tension. The film remains captivating until the end. The acting is of a good level. Visually also very good with realistic images. 3.5
