It's still hard to film something that actually happened. If there is too much romanticization, it irritates me immensely ('why didn't they stick to the facts, they are bad enough already'). But if you film those facts in a fairly neutral way - at least that's what I think in this case - then it doesn't come across very much. In this case it might have been better to make it into a real documentary, with (oh hell) such an explanatory voice in the background, checking all the details. And what is rather sorely lacking is the aftermath - yes, bad enough in itself of course that there were a number of deaths in the explosion and fire on the platform, but perhaps we should think it worse that an unimaginable amount of oil is flowed into the ocean. And that an unimaginable amount of rather bad chemicals were then poured over it, just to make it seem that the oil has disappeared.

Still, it's quite an impressive sight, and the replica of the 'real' Deepwater Horizon looks massive and overwhelming enough to impress. Especially when it pops. And without a doubt beautiful roles for Wahlberg, Russell and Malkovich. But I also expected that.
