Diablo plot
"There'll be hell to pay."
After being released from prison, Kris Chaney embarks on a dangerous mission to fulfill an old promise, but he finds himself in danger when he kidnaps Elisa, the daughter of a powerful criminal. Her father, Vicente, calls on the entire criminal underworld to bring her back alive. El Corvo, a psychopathic killer, joins the hunt, not for the money, but for his own vendetta against Vicente's family. Kris must then stay alive to tell Elisa the full story that has been hidden from her.

Diablo
After being released from prison, ex-con Kris Chaney kidnaps the daughter of a Colombian gangster to rescue her from the violent underworld. Hunted by gangs and the murderous El Corvo, his mission turns into a brutal fight for survival.
Diablo is a fairly standard and predictable action film, but still manages to entertain somewhat thanks to the physical style and presence of Adkins and Zaror. The fight choreography is solid and tightly shot, although it doesn't reach the level of better genre companions such as Undisputed II and III. Marko Zaror steals the show with a wonderfully brutal role as El Corvo and Alanna De La Rossa also delivers a convincing performance. Despite the flat story, the energetic action lifts the film just above average.

Great Adkins action film completely according to expectations. A standard genre story filled with action and tension. The elaboration is successful and better than many predecessors with Adkins. The pace is high and after a small build-up the action scenes follow each other. The action scenes look good. Not memorable but just solid shooting and fighting with a nice choreography. Visually also good to do with well-chosen locations. Great mindless entertainment for genre lovers. 3.0/3.5

With Scott Adkins in the lead role, you know well in advance what to expect. I can always enjoy his films, despite the fact that they are obvious B-movies that ultimately always dangle a bit between a 5 and a 6. This time I still get stuck at a 5. It is mainly the illogical moments in which both Scott's character and Diablo get the chance to permanently eliminate each other, but then go back to their daily routine, so that later on there is another confrontation that could easily have been avoided. I understand that it is necessary for the film, otherwise there would be no playing time left, but it is annoying because it is completely illogical. At such moments you miss a good writer who does not make it so banal. The ending, as mentioned above, is also quite cringe-worthy. What do they want to achieve with this, do they want to make a second part of this disposable film or something? Stop it...
Still quite entertaining, but not quite enough for a passing grade.
