Refuge plot

Sergeant Rick Pedroni comes home to his wife Kate, changed and dangerous, after an attack by a mysterious force during fighting in Afghanistan. Officials say her husband suffered a severe brain injury, but Kate knows it is more than post-traumatic stress disorder. While Rick undergoes disturbing therapy with other traumatized soldiers, Kate discovers that he is possessed by a malevolent spirit.

An entertaining war horror film, which a director like Renny Harlin certainly knows how to pull off. It's not particularly original or innovative, but the absurd finale and the fast pace deliver the necessary miracles. The acting, however, is subpar and the content clichéd, but Harlin delivers with visually appealing images and places an interesting emphasis on the combination of Islamic influences and American patriotism. This isn't elaborated upon very subtly, but the spectacular finale quickly makes you forget about it.
