Still really disappointed...

Would much rather have seen a sequel to the previous film.

I personally find the new characters unnecessary.

Too much drama, not enough action.

The tension of the previous films was hard to find.

So this movie is really unnecessary...

Just continue where the previous one left off.

Just returned from Pathe Rembrandt, I was really looking forward to this third part because I really liked the first 2 (especially in a silent cinema room). Then this third part, which takes place before part 1. I found it very disappointing, sorry for all the horror/thriller fans who were hoping for a good film in this genre after the very mediocre Watchers and The Strangers. For me, this film can be placed in the same list of very mediocre cinema films of late . The film is just not fascinating and exciting enough to keep you on the edge of your seat a little more than I did in the other 2 parts. There is no build-up at all in getting to know the new leading actors and even though they were all excellent actors and actresses, I missed the family aspect from parts 1 and 2 where you really started to sympathize with the actors. The female lead actress had to hold a cat for almost the entire film, which really irritated me at one point. Furthermore, there really was no story at all in this part. She was terminally ill and when the monsters came to earth she only wanted one thing, pizza , as a kind of last wish. Sorry, that just doesn't appeal to me... otherwise it's all quite tame and in many "quiet" moments it's really boring and sleep-inducing. More of a drama than a horror movie. Apart from a few exciting scenes (I still think the monsters in these films are very cool), nothing really happens... I think the cat is the most visible. Unfortunately, it was not what I had hoped for, a waste of this film in this series. I hope that part 4 continues after part 2 and with the same actors, I believe that they can still milk this franchise for a few good films

Mediocre, especially because of the basic story, the film is not really interesting. This is partly due to the very flat interpretations. Lupita Nyong'o, once very strong in 12 Years a Slave, lingers on the surface and didn't manage to touch me anywhere. However, the film explicitly looks for quiet moments for character development and drama and that is where the film fails; often the film really comes to a standstill and becomes boring. Too bad, because the images of New York are great (with that dust it is reminiscent of 9/11), the action is also excellent and somehow the film is just a nice, interesting addition to this universe. For example, the fear at the very beginning (although secretly it lasts just too short). Unfortunately, that does not result in a good film across the board. 2.5*.
