Dolomite and Ash plot

The young Russian filmmaker Dina makes a film about Stalinist oppression and the intergenerational traumas that still affect Russia. Together with her friend Johan, a German sound designer whose father disappeared in the Soviet Union during the Second World War, she goes in search of the labor camps of the time. The areas around the Gulag camps are virtually deserted, but still bear the scars of the people who died here. Although the journey has a therapeutic effect on both of them, their relationship is also tested.
